October 20, 2016. I think we may have reached an inflection point in the market. Up we go. Save this post.
This is a photo of the A1 going from Washington past Gateshead into Newcastle. The shot is taken with a long exposure to catch the movement of the cars. I particularly like the 2 cars indicating to change lanes :o)
Rusty old 1970s 4 door Holden in the Hazelbrook bush. About 40m from the road. We had bushfires through here in Dec. 1977.
So pleased to find lots of lichen covered trees in the woods, reminds me of field trips and teaching students about indicator organisms.

I just love this floor indicator. When you're in hot water with the boss, the dial goes past 8 and you get ejected through the roof. It's glass. Ouch.
A rather splendid collection of vintage & not so vintage busses on Southsea Common over the weekend, so variously we have here busses, bits of busses & passengers on busses

Plecoptera is a Stonefly Nymph crucial to stream ecosystems, and a building block of ecological diversity. A 40-foot, stainless steel and aluminum Plecoptera is dancing upright on the horizon. Her life-like motions and glittering metallic colors are attracting passersby like a Siren. This smiling six-limbed goddess with compound eyes, delicate antennae, and silky metal leg fringe, anal gills, and cercus is a warrior insect from another dimension. Her inquisitive antennae and six limbs swimmingly stir the air, simultaneously producing music: deep gongs and chimes as people, small below the huge stonefly, pull ropes at the base of the structure. The small action below causing large action above reminds us of the importance of small things.
Thanks to Phil Cook and Gordon McGregor we now have two restored indicator units for the lynx. With the reflectors getting a new coating of chrome they look nice and fresh and should bolt nicely into the front panels
Red Oxalis dye extracted in boiling water changes colour as the pH changes in the 9-12 range. Acid all the way to 1 intensifies the red with no significant colour change.
The free standing Train Indicator Board that was located on the island platform at Newport Station in South Wales. Destinations shown was during a time when Western/Eastern Valley passenger services were still operating. Times displayed are random of course.
Defunct relic from a bygone era (pre-1990 because it mentions the Metropolitan line) (pre-1979 because it has a sticker to rename Charing Cross as Embankment). Footbridge closed Saturday 16th January 2016
It's been a long time since they put these on a car. It's nice to find a old Caddy and see one again.

A few tweaks as regards timings etc but by and large finished. It's worth skipping half the video as not a lot happens. Third Drove is first to operate, Second Drove is er um second, followed by Black Bank then North Fen and lastly Beald Drove.
I was always fascinated by this when it was in the box. I wish i'd spent some time videoing it.
